Hi Linda - Hope you had a good holiday and thanks for the info

I imagined the Internet question would be as you say but the Intranet one is
different .....

I knew that Read receipt could be denied by the receiver, but it seems to be
more random than that - e.g. I have checked with our company IT technician

As a practice he does not Deny receipt of my messages and yet of those that
I have sent to him this year (2005) 53 have Tracking and 15 don't, and there
doesn't seem to be a pattern, i.e. Re: or FW: in the Subject line, fully
opened or unopened one-liners, and so on - all very strange!!

Graham

Read Receipts can be turned off by the receiver. If you go into
Tools>Options, there's a setting in there where you can choose to NOT
Tools>mark
receipts as read, so no one will know whether you have read their mail or
not.

Also, read receipts do not work with all email programs. They work with
Outlook and *sometimes* they work with Outlook Express, but other than that,
they are not reliable when sent to the Internet.

Becuz of all the spam stuff, many people have turned off their read receipts
feature, so the spammers can't tell their mail has been read or received by
a live person.

like it came from me, it did NOT!

Can anyone tell me why, on my work Intranet, some Sent Items messages have
the Tracking Tab and some do not? The Option setting is that all messages
require Read receipts, and so I also receive a Not Read if they are deleted
without being fully opened.

Also, why do some messages out to the Internet return Read receipts but only
very few?

Thanks

A. Graham Jones
