Barrie, Statistically, this is so. Which is why historically, women have got smaller pensions and annuities than men of the same age. Under the new EU mandated Gender Equality requirements, this means that men will, in future, get lower pensions than is the case up to the end of this week. Women have also statistically had fewer car accidents than men, and historically paid a lower insurance premium. That too finishes this week, and will hit young women drivers, in particular, very hard. Which, when added to something called 'Solvency 2' which would have affected my pension negatively by getting towards 20% if I had carried onworking and not drawn pensions until next year, is why I am drawing pension now. Because that means every day that I work has 40% tax to the government, I'm giving up work next summer. My work, because I have no clients in Europe, merely imports cash into UK plc and gives work to British Airways - and the government make me less competitive by the wicked level of Air Passenger Duty! Well, it's their loss when I retire..... Happy New Year everyone. Peter Chadwick Swindon MODEL ENGINEERING DISCUSSION LIST.
