Hi all,

I have damaged the 4 jaw chuck which came with my very secondhand, very
old ML7. The chuck didn't have a key - only an allen key and (I know I
shouldn't have) I put a 12" length of copper tube over the key to make sure
that the item being held wouldn't move.

Now all 4 adjusting screws are very tight to turn, making it very difficult
to feel just how much I am tightening the grip. If I remove the jaws, the
screws are still quite stiff to turn so it seems I have damaged them rather
than the jaws. I have spoken to the (very helpful) spares dept at Myford
quoting all the ID I can get off the chuck and backplate in the forlorn hope
that I might still get the screws but to no avail.

The only thing I can now think of is to run the screws in and out using
my cordless drill with some Valve Grinding Paste on the threads. Drastic I
know but I wonder if anyone can think of a better approach?

Christmas greetings to the group.

It's fun to belong!

Dennis
