it is not necessary to use both hands for navigating and interacting. you
can lock the vo keys.

I use Mac, linux, and as of a few months ago, windows; I find good uses for
them all and those uses overlap; in other words, i don't use each OS for
just particular tasks; i've used mail and internet with all three. I don't
see myself giving up any one of the three in the near future. while I do
have at least one dedicated computer for each OS, this isn't really
necessary. With the terminal on the mac augmented with Darwinports and/or
Fink, with Cygwin on Windows for Linux use, and of course the possibility of
parallels or dual booting on the Mac if you have an Intel, there are lots of
possibilities for doing what you want to do with the OS of your choice. The
main drawbacks for me with the Mac so far are (1) lack of braille support
except in the terminal; (2) some sites that aren't accessible or don't work
well with safari or shiira; (3) lack of a good spreadsheet program that's
accessible; (4) various bugs with voiceover or interaction problems with
various apps that cause inability to read or navigate or perform actions;(5)
busy signals; and (6) having to use both hands on the keyboard for
navigating and interacting--not such a big deal but would make braille use
mor of a challenge if not changed. however, that's not to take away from
the Mac; if I suddenly couldn't use Windows or linux, I still would be able
to function and accomplish most tasks, though possibly a bit more slowly in
some cases. Of course I'm only addressing the Mac here, but the other oSes
also each have their drawbacks. Obiously, not everybody wants to learn or
deal with more than one OS, but for me the variety has proven to be a good
solution.
