[macvoiceover] Re: Mac vs Windows question

Ya know this is a very interesting question and I will be giving a presentation on saturday trying to address that. I really think it's not a matter of putting windows against the mac but looking at what you want to do and what your situation is along with how much you can spend and then make an appropriate choice. In answer to your question for me yes! I would buy a mac because so far almost everything that I like and need to do can be done here. What is missing is a good spreadsheet program and full access to a word processor such as being able to read and generate tables. I own a mac as my personal laptop and find that each day I do more and more with it. The mac is a robust stable machine and voiceover is growing in to an excellent screen reader. Some of the tasks I perform on the mac are e-mail, internet, paying bills over the net, recording sermons for church and uploading them, watching dvds, using IM client's such as skype and fire, playing music through itunes, and the list goes on. ----- Original Message ----- From: "MaryLee Perkins" <marylee925@xxxxxxx>

Subject: [macvoiceover] Mac vs Windows question

My students are all so keyed into Windows that they won't consider a Mac. I have explained that they could own a new Mac for far less than the JAWS screen reader program will cost, but no body is listening. My question is, if you didn't have a computer would you buy a Mac? Does the Mac with VO do all that you need it to do?
Thanks,
MLP
