You continue to show your ignorance about being in the situation of either the old lady or me. You do not let an enemy (aka bad guy, predator, etc) approach you. An enemy has no legitimate reason for doing so. You do not need to wonder what his motives. You produce a weapon and order him to stop. If he comes after you, you shoot him. If you don't know that you don't want a bad guy coming after you, then you do not fit well in our world. If a bad guy comes after you, then you have a choice of fighting or fleeing. An old lady with a walker isn't going to be able to flee very well. That isn't going to be an option for a young Marine guarding prisoners either. They bad guys would be six feet under had they come after either one of us. In my case I was merely doing my job; so I didn't feel a need to say anything like the old lady did. But an old lady might well want it broadcast to other thieves looking to take advantage of her that they'd better rob someone a little more defenseless -- someone, apparently, like you and Paul think everyone should be. Lawrence seems to be confusing Kentucky with Korea. Fortunately, the military's rules of engagement are not used by civilian courts to determine justified homicide. Further, "I know self-defense therefore I know what is legally justified" is hardly a compelling, much less logical, argument.
