M.C. I think there's a lot of truth to this : except that Bush had no
need to "make an asshole out of himself", since he has always been one.
But a major difference between the period since the 90s and, say, the
60s, is that it's now cool to be an asshole. Bush has embraced his
inner assholeness, and allowed it to flourish.
Poltically, this seems to work fine. Take the example of Eric, who
appears to be quite happy with the fact that there's an asshole of
truly gargantuan proportions sitting in the White House.
