The Levi-Straussian business simply provides a proximate answer to such questions as why do Koreans and Brits who are, in historical terms contemporaries, have such different attitudes toward eating dog. The really interesting thing to watch in the case of the Koreans is what will happen now that the habit of keeping dogs as pets has begun to flourish there, as it has, for example, in Japan.
