chip that often works evenif the drivers are specific in the firstplace,
the changes to the driver by the manufacture occur usually to fix a bug in
their system, that does not mean how ever the standard a t i driver will
not work in that system, and in the past some fixed video card issue by
using the manufacture driver from the video card company instead of the
specific driver recommended by the computer company.

others fixed the crackling sound the creative labs card by using the driver
specific to gateway, that was prior to the creative site getting an updated
driver with the same fixes for the audagy sound card.

specific drivers is a very common practice by del and others.
not just for video cards either.

if you no the hardware manufacture of the video card you have then try its
driver you may or may not have better results.
[realize the computer manufacture will usually not recommend this though. ]

it has much to do with how good a job the video card manufacture does at
fixing bugs versus the manufacture of the p c.

the p c manufacture of course will fix the bugs that exist with the
standard components that come with your system probably before the video
card company does, but if you insert third party cards then the video card
manufacture driver may be most apt to solve a problem.
assuming one exist in the firstplace.
