is it because FOSS 'teachers' never bothered or didn't have
time/patience/resources or don't know(!) to teach it the "other way"?
I am sure almost every one in this list can remember one or two teachers
(mostly working in the other way) who had inspired them. If we think of the
no. of students each of us interact with, how many"passes" and how many
drop outs (by the teacher or by the student)?
I hope we do not get into the trap that various ideologies got into -- as if
they are the ONLY panacea for all the ills. FOSS uses the experience gained
from time immemorial -- sharing and developing knowledge. As a teacher or a
student, I would like to use/develop tools in the FOSS way, and not confine
FOSS to the home of the self taught type -- after all we are talking about
freedom.
