I don't think there is a confrontation at all. I was merely responding
to KG's comment that the emphasis is on training students to
use/develop with a tool rather than being adept with the basics.
Someone once told me the importance of learning assembly by saying
each time I do a printf, I should know what effect it has on my
system. I'd say the inquisitiveness the advice instilled in me helped
me quite a bit.
