I have yet to see a CS or IT graduate who knows the basics of
anything. All they know is tools, so as far as the opensource world
is concerned they are useless - only fit for proprietary sweatshops
where knowledge of tools is all that is required. Self taught is the
only way to go. And I have 'trained' any number of people who I
wouldnt even employ as peons who are drawing huge salaries today for
the sole reason that, in addition to the tools, a small bit of the
opensource culture has rubbed off on them
