Hi Buddy,
Nice to see you taking solid efforts on this. Hope we could repeat the
same success story we had in t'vannamalai here to. Talk to him such that
we have a chance to implement the same LDD model here to, which means..
1. Some selected volunteers ( from CSE, IT, ECE and EEE ) can be picked
up, based upon their own interest added by the departments , and trained
for to handle the LDD by the LUGies.
2. Luggies will help and support this effort, but expect equal support
and interest, esp from the students.
3. Does the college have a local LUG ? Speak about it too ;)
4. For the schools, we can use edu-ubuntu and other edu tools. In
addition, special session by Shakthi on Tamil typewriting, which will
help tamil teachers type question papers in PC ;)
5. Also, we can help in installing OSS in the school comp labs and help
them use OSS, esp tools like Open Office etc. Ask them to insist the
students to use these tools also.
6. High school students belonging to comp branch can be taught about
Open source and *nix OS'es, even a general intro about linux kernels and
how things got developed. This will moot interest within them over FOSS
and Linux esp. :D
These are just my ideas.
