There should be no _single_ point of contact. I'll
tell you why.
Singapore LUG, for example, has elections and office
bearers. So, you hold a position for a year.
But, in a year you might have lot of work that might
coincide with the time of LDDs. So, you may not be
able to do justice to both. Instead, if you keep the
contacts floating and use the mailing list as a point
of contact, whoever is available during the LDD time
_and_ willing to participate can contribute. The
probability of not getting someone is much less.
This has worked for many of our ILUGC members. There
were times when we did two workshops on a single day
by splitting our work.

Sometimes, it is difficult to get the top guy
regularly -- so you get an
intro to the 'active contacts' in the college and
work thru them.
You can approach the top guy as a AU-KBC or NRC-FOSS
member. As an individual, I can only contact
faculty/students and ask them to get permission in
their college for workshops - whatever be the
formalities.
And its easier to contact students/faculty through
e-mail/phone than the college management, from my
experience.
As for Jaya Engg, Aanjhan can apprise the Chairman,
bring Kumaran into the
picture and then Shakthi-Kumaran combine can take
over.
Should be Saturday, July 22, 2006. Will get
confirmation soon.
Please keep in mind that
many colleges would like
to have some 'VIP(!)' presence to inaugurate the
show.
These things should change. As an NRC-FOSS, AU-KBC
person, I am sure you guys have the power to change
such things.
It is the students' show. Let one of their own
inaugurate it.
For all the hard-work that Arunai Engineering College
students put it, I really wanted one of their own to
inaugurate it.
