But the focal point of the community namely .net is not owned by the
community.
So how does that matter? (BTW, the communities have direct access to
Microsoft employees working on .NET....just thought I'd mention it).
I've seen happy groups of vintage car owners...people who collect
toy-trains...people who are brought together just because they meet at
the same gym. Do these people 'own' the stuff that ties them together? I
don't think so.
These communities (the ones around Microsoft technologies) have existed
for years. What makes you doubt their longevity ?
