Good question - I'd like it to be sufficiently extensible that you could
implement something like Gibson's 'Magic' (http://magic.gibson.com)

For those who don't know, Magic is an open system for the transfer of up to
32 channels of audio and midi over ethernet...

I know this is a bit off-topic, but it could really put OBOS in good
standing as a DAW platform; if someone could take a look at the specs, I'd
be curious to hear how viable you think this would be, particularly what
factors would limit/prevent this, and they would differ between net_server,
BONE etc
