:: Elena Takes FreeBox Home

Elena picked up her FreeBox and chose a printer. Kevin worked on a number of printers until he found one that worked and suited Elena. There were problems with a new FreeBox Elena had chosen so she went back to the first FreeBox we had set up for her with OpenOffice.

:: New XP Device Tester and Burner

Kevin marked a donated P4 box with XP Pro loaded to use as a hardware testing and CD burning box. The box is password protected so I will hack it to clear the Administrator password. I didn't have the hacking software with me. If anyone is interested, I will demo the software next Tuesday.

:: Projector for Class

Forest dropped off his digital projector for Chuq and Kevin to use Saturday at the Perley FreeBox class. I sent an email to Nichole letting her know about the projector and presentation and asking her to borrow a portable screen from Perley school if possible. The walls at the Northeast Neighborhood Center are not favorable to projection.

:: FreeBox Banner

Nichole had asked me to put up the FGM banner at FreeBox classes to make it easier for participants to find the Neighborhood Center as they drive by. The banner was in the shop for repairs. On Monday, I asked the shop owner to finish the repair or let me have the banner as is for use this weekend. Today (Thu.) the owner still has not found the banner. He has misplaced or destroyed it, and we have no banner as far as I know. I will find better vendor who will construct a new banner for us.

:: 20 Monitors

Habitat for Humanity dropped off 20 monitors and other gear. They didn't contact us in advance about the drop-off and therefore didn't know that we charge for receiving monitors. Forest, Phil and I counted the monitors and sorted the keyboards, printers, scanners and miscellaneous cables. If we test the monitors, Men of Scars will take the good ones, and the rest will be recycled. A supporter of Habitat for Humanity acknowledged the mistake and has offered to pay the monitor fees.

:: Call from Andre

Andre says he is back at work at the Hummer plant in the body shop. He is physically exhausted at the end of the day but plans to volunteer again when he is conditioned to the hard work.
