I want to second this possibility; old references in the host file.
We have someone on site doing a service PM, on one of our operators were
complaining their WP was very slow (paradoxically, sometimes it was OK). After
some digging, we found several errors in the hosts file - an FCP270 had the IP
address of a WP, and a WP had the IP of an FCP270, etc. Not sure how this
happens.
We will try and clean this up today and hopefully it resolves our issue.

All,
However unlikely this may seem, I have had good results with cleaning up the
"hosts" file.
Any "hosts" file in the complete system, NOT reflecting the actual situation,
will result in unpredictable delays in display call-up.
Curious to hear if this applies in this case.

Maybe you can try to RDP to this station or use tight vnc or something similar
to find out if it's related to the video cards...
Since it occurs on all stations maybe it's related to a setting on the video
cards?
I suppose when you open a certain display multiple times and the problem stays
it's not related to optimization.

Dirk

Truthfully don't think this is the issue because we've called displays multiple
times, sometimes ok, sometimes not. Also occurs when brining up select screens.
Also have the flicker issue on busy displays which we thought was a long solved
problem.

If displays were just moved, they hold the optimization of the former
workstation info.
So it may take 3 callups to clear.
First callup needs to flush previous optimizations and relearn
differences Second callup should optimize fully learned paths
Subsequent callups good If convert fdf to g ....then copy and convert
g to fdf....all optimization is cleared and displays should optimize in 2
callups.
Find all connections the first callup...
then good all subsequent callups.

Displays were just moved not converted. Do we need to covert all to g and
then back to fdf?
Thanks,

Hi Brian,
Check your /usr/fox/customer/hi/dmcfg file. Are your DM's configured as
operator or view only? If configured as view only, Foxview might be slow
even if the environment is set to Eng_env....

Subject: [foxboro] FV Display Call Up Time HP Gen9
We’ve just completed upgrading from Dell Server 2003 to HP Gen9 Server 2008.
FV is very slow in calling up displays, sometimes it’s fine, have not taken
the time to put a call in yet but will. Anyone have any helpful
suggestions? We had no issues with DellR710 with Win2003. We have 11
servers, all 11 have this issue.
Thanks in advance,
Brian Long
