Oh I agree,
Adaptive technology is quite expensive for us.
The bottom line is, we are a small community with very few resources to
call on. Some of us is willing to work on making programs accessible while
others are driving the cost effectiveness up.
I can understand that in order to meet the demands of the time spent per
hour on a hour to hour basses, the cost of programming to come up with such
a product like CT, and J Sonar can be costly.
So where does the fault lie? It lies within Cakewalk Pro tools, and Roxio.
Lets not forget about Freedom Scientific who runs the business end of
things.
I myself has tried hard to keep up with the flow of traffic on this list and
the midi mag list, and also tried to help and test on the CT beta team, and
can realize the time and work that goes in to testing a product.
I can personally tell you some of the stories I've gotten from Roxio about
the fact is that "there is no demand for us to make our product accessible".
This is the reason why the good people like freedom Scientific can increase
their prices above and beyond what some of us can aford.
There really needs to be a grater demand for programmers like David pinto so
we can at least have a choice on who to buy from.
The Tutorials are grate, but he's the only one doing a tutorial with
Scripts.

Hi,

Don't forget the cost of upgrading jaws. I've had three iterations
of caketalking, for sonar 3, 4, and 5, and each time I upgraded, I had to
upgrade jaws too. Its a quite expensive proposition for someone whose
unemployed and uses window-eyes as a main screen reader, reserving jaws only
for music making!
