In general because SyncDiscs uses another program to do the file copying, it wants to avoid looking at individual files - the higher up the directory tree the copy command is issued the better - we want to tell the copy program to copy whole folders, that way things go faster.

Many ideas for improvements involve breaking this requirement. Checking file attributes after copying or setting them would.

Something you see on sync. programs is a function to set the destination attributes to be the same as the source - in other words if you know the files are the same, force the time stamps to be the same. This is done as a separate operation over all files like sync. or compare.

Then again perhaps it is safer to set the attributes immediately after a copy.
