No, the card does not already contain books. You don't need to remove the
card, just connect the Bookport to the computer. ON your cd that has the
software, there is a folder called books or something like that. Sorry, I
don't think that's the exact name, but you will know what it is. You can
send any of those books to the Bookport or if you already have books from
another source you can just locate them on your hard drive and send them
that way. HTH.

There is no speaker on the device, so make sure you have the earbuds attached and in your ears.
Just pull the card out if you need to remove it.
