I've also found that if one closes the Eudora, and then opens Eudora again, usually the emails show up with their proper "from" and "subject" fields.

I often backup my in.mbx out.mbx saved.mbx and my eudora.ini files and also my address book which is the nndbase.nnt. i never backup the .toc files, since they are only indexing files, and Eudora will re-create them.

Thanks much.

Many Blessings,

Actually, I think the in.mbx file contains all the email data and therefore should not be deleted. Merely deleting the in.toc file removes the table of contents structure. Then reopening the In box will cause Eudora to rebuild a new in.toc file.

If you want to rebuild the inbox, go to Eudora's application data folder and delete in.mbx and in.toc. relaunch Eudora.

OH after the numbers and letters it is a actual e mail that reads just fine

Donna -

Can you explain further what you mean by "... my last unread message in the inbox says like numbers and letters cannot get them down fast enough ..." and what it is that you are looking to "... rebuild ...?" If you can provide either a direct sample of what you are talking about or perhaps even a screen shot it might be helpful in figuring out what the problem is.
