I didn't explain why the Renew link should be there all the time. I simply mentioned that when I started volunteering it used to be that way. This is one of those frustrating situations where they took something that was working fine and made it unfine. All I was asking was that it be returned to the way it used to be. The reasons why seemed obvious.

Hi all,I would like to revisit the issue of renewals. Let me explain. I know that Evan had mentioned that he thought the renew link should be up on the checkout page all the time. He didn't explain why, but I now understand why.I have been working on Joanna Gregory's The Tarnished Chalice for the past six weeks. I'm in the middle, about halfway along. Anyway, my book came up for renewal and I got the notice on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, I had already left for the weekend. I was attending my cousin's wedding. I arrived home late yesterday afternoon and proceeded to catch up on things in the house, never thinking about my book till I began wading through the email. I found the bookshare notice of renewal that was sent to me on Friday. Needless to say, my book was long gone when I went to look for it this morning.I have written to the proofer who has snapped it up, no fault of hers at all, and have politely asked her if she might consider releasing it for me. I have explain my situation, and said that if she's a new proofer and needs a proof to do, she may keep the book, but if not might she consider releasing it? I haven't heard back.Bottom line, folks, I couldn't do a blessed thing about renewing my book this weekend. I wasn't here. Had the renewal link been on the page permanently, I could have renewed the blessed thing on Thursday before I left! <sigh> Six weeks of work gone poof! Oh, well, es la vida. If my contact wants the book, so be it, but I was halfway through. Is there anything we can do about this? Could the renewal link be placed on books in one's queue permanently? Ah, well, it was a truly beautiful wedding and I wouldn't have missed it for worlds. Take care all, thanks for letting me vent.Ann P. -- Ann K.
