Hi, gang, Kim here, speaking for myself, I'm really not trying to thumb my nose at anyone. I know the business of the list is to deal with scanning and proofreading, but now and then, I'll read something which peaks my interest, so naturally, I want to put my two cents in. Think of me as your comic relief while you're slogging along. By the by, I've noticed a couple of books submitted by Roger Drewicke. Do I contact him or just grab a file? Regards, Kim aka Ellinder. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of EVAN REESE Sent: Thursday, July 16, 2009 4:51 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: ot is a courtesy rather than thumbing one's nose at moderator or other list members Hi Ann, The answer to why, if people know something is OT, they keep posting it here--in Bookshare's case anyway, is that Bookshare has stated on more than one occasion when the subject of off topic messages has come up, that they feel that a certain, moderate, amount of off topic discussion is okay because it helps to foster a greater sense of community among the volunteers. I agree with that idea, by the way. There's been a time or two I recall, when things really got out of hand in the OT department. But most of the time, the list seems to work pretty well with a bit of tolerance for OT messages..
