I'm not Kaitlyn but kurzweil or open book seem to be the preference.
Kurzweil has lots of tools built in to help edit a book or anything that is
scanned. I personally like kurzweil best after using both because of the
tools in kurzweil. Hopefully you can afford one of these programs or have
assistance in getting one of these programs. To be honest, a lot of people
talked me into getting kurzweil who are on this list.

Hi Kaitlyn,
I have been just using wordpad, but will most likely find something else to
use, such as MS Word or Kurzweil. Any recommendations?
Jenny

Cindy is right about some children's books. Though on occasion I have seenthat
paperbacks that don't have them. There was one recently that I scannedtodidn't have them.
What software are you using to read and validate books with?
Kaitlyn Healing Practitioner "The cost of a thing is the amount of what I call life, which is requiredtobe exchanged for it immediately or in the long run." Henry Thoreau

This particular book came from the Step 1 download page. It does appearrequiredhave headers at the tops of the pages, such as the author's name and the book title, but absolutely no page numbers to be found.
