I'm not sure about question 1, but here are my preferences for 2.
Contemporary romance
Harlequins and Silhouettes
Historical romance
Regency romance
Western romance
That said, I agree that she should scan what she likes. I've noticed a
lot of the Harlequin romances on the check out list lately.
