Well I understand where you're coming from, Gwen, but I think it's my job to
read every single word of the text if for no other reason than for the sake
of accuracy. I've been fortunate that I've liked everything I've proofread,
though one of them was extremely dark and the language, though nasty, was
realistic. Let's face it, you're not going to hear a thug using polite
language. I think if you don't care for a book and can't read every word to
check for accuracy, then don't put yourself through this distasteful
experience and proofread what you do like. If you can turn off the "ick"
factor (for lack of a better word) then read what you like and no harm done.

Yeah you are right in what you say here.
The trouble is, as picky as I am, that limits me so I've had to over look
shall we say, things I'd be picky in, just to get a book to proofread and
keep me busy.
I'm probably gonna be reading for quite some time, and in a way, that is
good for it gives me a break so to speak from proofing, because right now,
there is not one thing up there, I'd actually joy in proofreading.
I could proofread, but I probably wouldn't be doing or giving it my best,
simply because the books simply for me are not good, or anything that
captures my interest.
And then those that do capture my interests have two things I'd rather not
read, and quite honestly I have skipped whole blocks of texts because of it.
I make sure the book is OK, but I don't read it nor enjoy it either.
The two things which most books cannot do without are sex and language.
So I have to go around those types of things, because most books seem to
need those things to survive, and for my personal preferences, I can read a
story without those things, and I can lose myself in a book and it is most
wonderful to me I guess I mean the language and the sex, do nothing for me
to add to a perfectly good story, except add junk that I can well do
without.
Saying that though, if it means I have nothing to proofread, and sense it
helps everyone out, I have, and will do books simply to keep myself busy and
to help take a bite out of the proof things to do.
