This debate has gone round and round over the years, but the competing
interests (and possibly a lack of leadership) have made it impossible to
take any form of concerted action.

So let's get independent of those interests, not for any reason that is
insulting to any of the state bodies or Swinburne, but so that we can rise
above local competitiveness.

I agree with Michael that this list IS the only national forum. So let's
use it and create a new national group through it whose sole mandate is to
look at accreditation. If Swinburne or the state bodies are happy to
sponsor this, then that is fine, just as long as they do not control it.

In this age of electronics, why don't we organise a chat room or some more
sophisticated equivalent, and a time, and invite anyone who is interested to
participate in a discussion. I know one lovely sophisticated on-line
facilitation program (Open Space methodology), but it would cost - which is
one area where sponsorship may come in - I'll check though to see how much
if anyone is interested. But perhaps someone knows of something better.

Wouldn't a good starting point be a nationally based chat?

Christine
