Good point. I've seen some 3d lattice structures for heat exchangers, Due
to fabrication methods they were using, they tended to have straight path
designs, but I could easily see a concept that had the path of least
resistance going helically.

If you can actually design the microstructure of your catpack, you want to
think not just tortuous but also helical: you want to centrifuge liquid
droplets out of the gas and onto the surface, as much as you can.
