My quick an dirty (partly) solution: apt-get install ia32-libs download 386er-Version from http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/libs/libxss1 mkdir test sudo dpkg --extract libxss1_1.1.2-1_i386.deb test cd test/usr/lib sudo mv libX* /usr/lib32/
It's kind of unfortunate then, that the distribution doesn't install this library by default. It's the X11 Screen Saver extension library, and display calibration software needs it to be able to (try) and disable screensavers, so that they don't mess up screen measurements because the system appears to be idle while calibration or profilng proceeds.
