Hi Lars Tore,
in principle you are right - for this reason i have gentoo on my laptop. But if someone just want to try a software, especially without know how to compile programs, its easier to use the compiled version (perhaps only a feeling). And the Problem was "libXss.so.1 not found" and not can't compile programm ;-)

Best regards

Udo

apt-get install ia32-libs

download 386er-Version from http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/libs/libxss1
mkdir test
sudo dpkg --extract libxss1_1.1.2-1_i386.deb test
cd test/usr/lib
sudo mv libX* /usr/lib32/

And the precompiled dispwin run.

Hello Udo
I tested this on my laptop with an ubuntu 64 bit.
Here is the result from making a profile with a self compiled version,
as mentioned in an earlier email.
profile check complete, peak err = 6.443749, avg err = 0.831665
Exectution time = 56.240000 seconds

And the result from the downloaded i386 binary.
profile check complete, peak err = 6.668158, avg err = 0.821331
Exectution time = 65.630000 seconds

As you can see the self compiled version is faster and the other tools
works also, so why not just compile it and skip the lib32 stuff?

Lars Tore
