Hi Terry

I don't know what the hell my laptop does while it's loading. You get the first chime, then another one a little while after that, then JAWS speaks after that. I haven't noticed it being slower with version 9.0 and its updates to what it was when I first got it and ran 8.0 and its updates. But I think some people are saying it is very slow with XP, and there I have noticed a difference with version 9.0 after the XP welcome chime and JAWS loading. It doesn't bother me, it's just something I've observed.

Actually I think the start-up speed of JAWs is a little dependent upon your configuration of Vista. Personally jAWS starts very quickly at the log-on screen but then takes it's time to re-start once Vista is loaded.
The Desktop is fully populated for a good minute before JAWS starts.

Hi Lyn

It seems to me that JAWS 9.0 is perhaps slower at starting up under XP, but is certainly fine on Vista.

Yeah I also find jaws 9 very slow at start up and I don't have many programs booting up when my pc boots up as I have removed all that in msconfig. I definitely find jfw 9 quite slower than jfw 8.0.
