The brailleNote is good in my opinion, despite some drastic annoyances, it's pritty good.

It's certainly one of the most stable notetakers.

It has:
word processor.
Planner
Address list
Book reader
Scientific calculator
Games (text adventures)
File manager
Fm radio, as well as other media features
Pritty neet database manager
As well as utilities specifically for the braillenote.

The only thing that would say to you not to get the braillenote, is foreign language support. while sufficient for creating documents, it lacks serious back and forward translation.

Mike, feel free to e-mail me off list, or add to msn.

Hi Mike,

Well I reckon there are pros and cons to all of them from reading
about them, though I've only actually seen two and used one.
Personally I use a BrailleNote and am very happy with it despite its
problems. But I think whatever you do you should have a thorough look
at any unit before you buy, and preferably look at a few different
ones. Also ask users what they like/don't like about what they're
using. e.g. the BN has some annoying problems coping with some Word
documents (note I say "some" but so far I haven't figured out/noted
anyone else saying, a rule for figuring out which ones the BN will
have a problem with and which it won't). The BN has other pros and
cons too and if you want to know more please write to me privately at

Hi listers,

I'm looking to upgrade my Braille Lite to one of the new notetakers.
Which one to go for is the question: Braillenote, Pacmate Omni,
Braillesense, or any other? I appreciate that there are personal
opinions and sales views. Are there advantages of one over another, or
is it very much a personal preference?

Any thoughts welcome,

Regards,

Mike
