I do appreciate this, Dave, but how are we expected to know if they don't advertise this fact!

OK, you thought to make an appointment. I was doing lots of different things that day and decided to combine them. Didn't have a clue they would be unable to give a proper demo.

Carol,

I cannot comment on the service you received, but, in my
experience, if you go to the RNIB Resource Centre to look
at a particular product, then it is advisable to make a
specific appointment to have a demonstration of that
product. I did this some time ago for the Plextalk PTR1,
and a member of staff spent an hour with me going over
every detail. The technical people are not always
available, which is why it benefits both them and you if
you make an appointment.

Hi all,

I don't exactly apologise for this post and I'll try to
keep it brief!

I've just written about my recent experience when
visiting the RNIB shop at Judd Street for the first time
a few weeks back ...

(I won't repeat here what I wrote there ...)

My quest to get a proper indepth demonstration of the
Plextalk Pocket has been exceedingly difficult ... and
I've now decided to give it up.

Not only was I unable to get anything like a
demonstration at the RNIB, but I have declined to
purchase the "Infotech" article. This was the last nail
in the coffin for me! I was told this would cost me £10
as I'm not a regular subscriber to "Infotech" and you can
no longer purchase individual articles at a reasonable
rate. I think £10 is too steep and, despite my writing
both Brian and Terry at T&T, I heard nothing from them.

Well, that's just too bad! It seems my quest for a
recorder I'll really like and get on with is just not to
be!

Surely, it ought to be easier than this to get proper
demonstrations and a working knowledge of this high tech
stuff for which we have to pay fairly high prices anyway
...

OK - rant over!
