I don't know, the preview scan on my machine is faster than the actual scan, takes about half the time and the shark announces what's happening, so, it doesn't bother me. Of course, it would be a different matter if I wanted to scan entire books. I use Fine Reader 7 as my OCR by the way, sorry I can't give you more help, hope you sort it out soon. Good luck!

Marie

Hi Marie - How do I check for this, do you know? Is it possible to disable
the preview scan, and just accept a default?

Thanks -

Andy

| On my HP all in one, this is what happens, there is a preview scan that
you
| have to accept and then the proper scanning starts.
| Might be what's happening to you.
| Hope this helps a little.

| Andy,
|
| On some scanning interfaces I've seen the offer of a first run to get a
| preview, and a second run for the actual scan. I've never understood
| what the preview is for, but I wonder if your scanner is doing them
| both? If so, there may be a way to prevent the first run. How do you
| activate the scan, from a word processor, FineReader, the scanner
| interface or some other way?

|
| Hi all -
|
| I have an Epsom DX 7400 all in one printer scanner copier, and I'm using
|
| Fine Reader 7 pro for my OCR. When I scan a document, the scan works in
| the
| usual way, with JAWS announcing the scanned percentage, up to 100
| percent.
| After this however, the scanner goes in to a second scan, or at least
| the
| process is the same, in that it sound like it is scanning again, and
| JAWS
| again reports on the percentage done, up to 100 percent. Anybody know
| what
| this second scan is about? It makes scanning before reading, a slow
| process,
| as I have to wait for both scans to complete before I can read the
| results!
|
| Thanks -
|
| Andy
