Great ideas, Kathy! Senior housing areas have been mentioned; good point about
Westbrook Pointe :), and Channel 2- I'm not sure how that would work; does
anyone else know? Also, you mentioned how to notify those with visual
impairments- do you create documents in Braille for your clients? Other than
word of mouth, I'm not sure of another way to do that, unless someone did get
that radio spot we talked about previously? And you mentioned literacy
impairment, which I suppose word of mouth/radio would address that also... your
mention of that reminded me that we have a number of residents who cannot speak
or read English, or are limited in their knowledge/use of it; a barrier I
really wish I had thought of sooner! We could ask someone to translate to make
an additional flyer, and interpret at the forum; however with our time limits,
I don't necessarily expect this could be arranged. All things considered, I
wish we had more time. We shall try to do what we can!
Thanks!

know (literacy and visual impairment), handout worksheet is not accessible to
all. Have we put up a flyer at the Westbrook Gardens (not called that any
more), and the senior housing areas…many of those places ARE filled with
walkers…including the “old high school” senior housing. Just trying to think
how/where to reach the biggest group of walkers…Channel 2 (or is it 3??)…local
tv. Just hoping to get the word wide and far to pedestrians (and bikers).

Kathy- thanks for letting us know. Every participant will also be getting a
worksheet, where these categories will be listed, so that part is covered.
John- thank you! We will count you in. Any other (note)takers? Sam On

you so much for your continued support and help with outreach for the Westbrook
forum coming up on May 4. We have another role for some of the members of
the group that we hope some of you will be interested in. We will need 4
note-takers to take notes during the break-out session portion of the forum,
where residents will be marking maps and giving the note-taker feedback that
will be written on an easel pad. This info will then be consolidated to reflect
locations of greatest concern for the residents, and used in a real-time voting
exercise at the end of the forum. I have attached a note-taker guide that we
have put together. We need 4 note-takers. If you are interested, please
reply to me ASAP! We will meet around 5:30pm (before the forum) on May 4th
at the Middle School to do a brief note-taker orientation for those that sign
up to do it. Thanks! Sam
