Good point, John. Arabic and Somali are also common around here. I wish we
could have something for everyone, but if it can be accomplished, maybe one of
the commonly spoken languages?

program, I've learned that some of the African immigrants can speak French in
additional to one or more African languages (because colonialism), so French
can sometimes be used as a common language. I don't know what that's worth in
this case, just putting it out there.

AND indeed I was thinking about the immigrant population which is abound in
Westbrook and many are walkers! Have we put flyers all over the community
center…they teach English language learner classes there and I see many folks
walking up to the community center…I’d put a ton of flyers around that place!
Translation would be nice, but westbrook hs has something like 40-something
different languages now spoken there…translation can be challenging…even
amongst those from Africa, there are MANY different languages and dilect…so
translation is not quite as easy as one might think…but maybe getting our
fliers to those classrooms/main office at community center would be a good

Westbrook Pointe :), and Channel 2- I'm not sure how that would work; does
anyone else know? Also, you mentioned how to notify those with visual
impairments- do you create documents in Braille for your clients? Other than
word of mouth, I'm not sure of another way to do that, unless someone did get
that radio spot we talked about previously? And you mentioned literacy
impairment, which I suppose word of mouth/radio would address that also... your
mention of that reminded me that we have a number of residents who cannot speak
or read English, or are limited in their knowledge/use of it; a barrier I
really wish I had thought of sooner! We could ask someone to translate to make
an additional flyer, and interpret at the forum; however with our time limits,
I don't necessarily expect this could be arranged. All things considered, I
