I just received a call from Tom T and Sylvia B. They were at Riverside Park in Neenah yesterday afternoon (Feb 24, Sunday). Around 2:30 they noticed a small gull being harassed by Herring Gulls. It eventually moved towards the lighthouse (Kimberly Pt.), where it flew around and rested on the ice for the next 20 minutes. It was the immature Black-legged Kittiwake!! So, this bird is still around, although rarely being seen by any one. What could be happening is it is holding out on the only open water on the northwest end of Lake Winnebago out from Jefferson Park (Menasha). If it is out there it is almost impossible to locate due to the light conditions and distance. There usually are 100s of gulls out there flying around and trying to pick it out is a real challenge. It needs to come into the Neenah area, where Tom and Sylvia had it yesterday. So, if in the Neenah area check those gulls carefully! Maybe you will be lucky!
