I haven't done a *lot* of cross-country driving... but when I'm driving
anywhere greater than a few hours away, I'd much rather drive late at
night on the interstate, when there's 'nothing but trucks' on the road.
I can also stay awake better at night.. if I have to drive very far
during the day, I start drifting off to sleep... but I never have that
problem at night.

That's out of the ordinary. The lines don't put you to sleep? That's good. :] I don't think that I ever really noticed a difference between day-time and night-time driving other than things like a much higher number of knuckleheads on the road during the day.
