I haven't done a *lot* of cross-country driving... but when I'm driving anywhere greater than a few hours away, I'd much rather drive late at night on the interstate, when there's 'nothing but trucks' on the road. I can also stay awake better at night.. if I have to drive very far during the day, I start drifting off to sleep... but I never have that problem at night.
