I make more than anyone has so far put forth on this list. But in the
NYC, USA area, a cheap starter house and hour commute away is about
$350,000USD ! I don't know how to take a job to be happy when I need to
make a lot just to pay the mortgage,

Well, really it all boils down to are you happy? I mean we'd all 'like'
to make more money but there's a tradeoff with flex hours, perks,
benefits. If you know you can make more elsewhere but are happier
staying where you are then that's what counts.
