I also have Word telling me that I have an old converter that it can't use when user try to open certain docs. The sad part is that they are Word docs they are trying to open. Isn't that lovely? Word is just killing me today. then I get my subscription advantage renewal notice asking me for more money. I just re-installed Office 2k3 on my brand-new, completely reimaged computer. I pull up Word to print out my Citrix documentation I'm working on, and what happens? *BLAM* Crash, must reboot. Woooooooooot? Turns out, it was some dumb Microsoft Document Image Writer or somewat that was installed as my default printer. I had forgotten to map my printer first. Causing me to lose all the setup work I had done because my profile got blasted! *sigh* If this is what they call job security, I suppose. No one man has ever accomplished the task of figuring out why our products crash. Shoot we don't even know, in fact should you find out, please let us know so that we can keep the information to ourselves (you never know what happens when you share that type of information). I recommend buying our new product Word 2003, it crashes twice as much, uses three times the amount of disk space, and runs slower than Win2k on a 486. However we have added all kinds of feature no sane human even needs or ever learn how to use. Also, since the advent of Microsoft products we have noticed a dramatic increase in computer crashes, we have determined that these crashes send people back to using pencil and paper. For those users we have created a new program called One Note, now we have figured out how to crash your notes too. At only $150 per license. Join us. Join us. Microsoft (aka Gunnar) -----Original Message----- From: Greg Reese [mailto:GReese@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, February 23, 2004 2:37 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Odd Message from Word I had a user who was working in Word 2000 and tried to save a document. Nothing out of the ordinary, about 13 pages, three or four embedded spreadsheets with about 10 rows each. When he tried to save it and got an error message about being out of disk space or too many files being open. There are no space problems on his pc or the network. We crashed his pc and opened the auto recover file and got most of his work back. He can now save it just fine. Has anyone seen this before? I have been asked to find out the why of it but am not seeing much. The event logs have nothing in them. Mondays are so much fun.
