| *crap* Ok, so I have an NT4 test server for Siebel. It's a mirror of
| production and has been running fine for years. It blue screened and the
| Siebel admin rebooted the box. It comes back up with Disk I/O Error:
| Status 00001000. Then NTDetect runs detecting hardware. It comes
back with
| the Disk Error and tells me, NTDETECT Failed.
|
| So, I have tried to boot from the NT4 CD, same thing happens.
Tried to
| boot from a floppy disk, same thing happens, but I do get my A:
prompt. But
| I can't get to my C: drive. I ran FDisk, and I can see the partitions are
| there. But I can't access them, so I can't run scandisk. The machine can
| see the drives, I can access them in the Adaptec SCSI Utility. I
don't know
| *what's* going on with this box... so I'm hoping that someone has
recovered
| from this. This is a box that I would like to keep the OS intact if
| possible. I can't even rebuild it yet, but can if that's necessary.
|
| The box is a POS black box edition... no vendor, piecemeal parts.
 Dual
| PIII 850s with 1G of RAM.
|
| Thanks,
|
| Jen

Install the drive as a slave in a working machine, and run the scandisk
from there.
