Hi Joananne,
My laptop is a HP though it may be designed completely different. On my
machine there is a row of buttons along the top and the second button from
the left will toggle the wireless on and off. Jaws usually announces this as
it happens. I don't know if this has any relevance to your situation.

Paul, it is actually an HP laptop.
To answer your questions Darragh:
It isn't seeing the network at all and no security key is required to
connect to the network.
The user tells me that it picks up her wireless router at home.
I'm thinking that wireless must be turned off or something as I'm not
getting any error messages from vista.
