Hello John,
I've put a track in there, a demo of a song Dave Reay and a friend recorded
with me in the nineties. I'd like to produce a better recording than this third
of fourth generation copy which is all I have of it. I've started it with four
beats, but they're a count-in. The final song should have just the last of the
four beats, so it will start with: '(Beat), Everybody's looking for a little
stroke of love. Perhaps that one beat could be the shortest introduction since
the one chord at the start of we Can Work It Out.
Note how the verses are in half-time compared with the choruses. I want it to
have drums, bass, acoustic rhythm and chiming electric twelve-string if any of
you guitarists have such an animal. Then I'll add keyboard (organ and perhaps a
keyboard generated sax solo - I think I can get a fairly good likeness), and of
course vocals, including harmony and counterpoint at the end. Does anyone want
to give it a go? Style: Think XTC/Lloyd Cole.
Do you guys need to know anything else in order to give it a try? I think the
only way this experiment is going to come to fruition is by getting on with it.
I know what Dave's into and he's told the list. What styles do the rest of you
feel comfortable with? I'd say I'm mainly 20th century pop and rock, soul (no
rap), country (New and traditional) and blues, with some folk and a little jazz
thrown in. for me, the song's the thing.
Best,
Clive

Hi Everyone,
I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas for putting together such a track?
I'd be really keen to add in some guitars, bass, acoustic, electric rhythm or
lead? Any of the drummers amongst you, have you a drum track recorded? Or
an idea of something? It would be really great to make this great idea of
Peters come to some fruition.
Cheers all!
Steve

Hi All,
Many thanks for the encouraging response to the idea of how we might record
remotely.
I've just invited those who expressed an interest, nine so far, to share a
DropBox folder.
Whenever you have a song or piece of music that you'd like to record,
please add a demo or guide track to the folder. It should have a
count-in, and if it's the sort of piece where a click-track is suitable
or helpful, then that could also be good, but absolutely not essential
and very much depending on the type of music.
Please then post to the group to say anything you like about how it
could be arranged, and then others can record parts, and we can take it
from there.
If you haven't yet been added but would like to be, then please post to
the list.
Lastly, nothing is set in stone and if you have other ideas about how to
work this, then please feel free.
All best,
Peter
