This is one of the reasons I've been holding back on buying a Fire. I
contacted the developers of voice dream reader and they told me that Amazon
won't approve the voice dream app in the app store.

This is pretty much the only reason I think I would want to install the
Google Play Store so probably would not bother if it is not possible to
install Voicedream or another alternative Book Reader.
