hi all. if you can't get alexa to read the book by the "read" command,
no idea what the problem is. i just downloaded another book from my
cloud library and alexa started reading the book just fine. there is a
pause while the book loads, but, that is it.
by the way, have you asked alexa to "play npr radio"? for me, alexa
will connect to my local npr station (whatever the program is running
at the time) and start playing with a connection with tunein (by the
way, i don't have that app installed). there seems to be a tight
tie-in with npr, since if i say "news" i will get a news summary from
npr along with the local current weather (even though i don't have the
weather app set-up).
