The 7th annual College Creek late winter and spring hawkwatch, located on the
James River, near Williamsburg, sponsored by Coastal Virginia Wildlife
Observatory, began its season today, February 9th, despite temperatures in
the low 30s.
The first bird to cross the river was a Cooper's Hawk, followed by 7 Turkey
Vultures and a surprise Osprey. The previous first-appearance date for
Ospreys at the site was February 20th.
