Cuffy, the application in question here is jv16's
RegClean. Sandy stated that she had used it on her XP
installation previously without trouble.

This time, apparently, something may have gone awry and
when she right clicks on anything & chooses
"properties" she gets the "RegOpenKeyEx:The handle is
Invalid " message. Then she clicks OK and can continue
with the Properties dialog box.

A previous restore point and a scannow did not work in
solving this. By default jv16 RegCleaner backs up what
changes it makes but I haven't been able to get Sandy
to confirm if she can/has tried this option to resolve
this glitch she has encountered.

Got any ideas that she could try before I recommend she
tries a "Repair Installation"?

Microsoft RegClean 4.1a Utility program was developed
by Microsoft for Win95, Win98, ME, to clean and repair
Windows Registry errors. Since introducing Windows XP
the free Regclean download program is no longer
supported by Microsoft. It is NOT even available for
download from Microsoft's website anymore. However,
RegClean 4.1 will also run on all Windows XP 2000
Operating Systems.

We seem to have some contradicory information. Have you
run and had problems with Regclean 4.1a on the XP OS?

Seems a little strange?
