I keep having a nagging feeling I’m overlooking the obvious, but I’m not having any luck identifying these two moths. I’m not even certain they are the same species. I thought Corn Earworm (Helicoverpa zea – 11068), but that doesn’t look right and it’s the wrong time of year. Date: 3/13/12 and 3/15/12 Marvin Smith Rural North-central Arkansas Searcy County – Ozark Mountains Elevation: 1600 feet Mixed hardwood and pine woods/pastures/waste areas.
