Hi Folks,
Here are the results from Sunday's Clifton Bend Spring count. We had an
absolutely gorgeous day to count, with just a bit of gusty wind to make
photography a challenge. The individual number is just 7 shy of the all-time
high for this count, but the 27 species is about average. Juniper Hairstreaks,
Goatweed Leafwings, and Gemmed Satyrs made good showings this year. Highlights
included an Eastern Pine Elfin that buzzed around the top of a pine tree for
several minutes, finally coming down to about 10 feet away when I got the
somewhat blurry picture and a violaceous form Juniper Hairstreak. Thanks to
